Welcome to Las Balsas
A journey through glasses of wine by Las Balsas
Wine is a classic element of the Argentinian cuisine, with personal colours, notes and local flavours. Each glass of traditionally produced wine is an invitation for a unique experience going through every latitude with taste leading our way. This trip starts at the wine cellar.
Wine is an Argentinian symbol, probably because of the great European immigration during last century, bringing their customs and traditions from the Mediterranean diet: olive oil, lemon, garlic, laurel and wine as iconic ingredients.
Red wine is the most popular stock for Argentinians, with substance and astringent flavour. Although, during the second half of XX century, pink and white wines emerged.
Placing ourselves at the Patagonia, traditionally produced wines turn out to be the ideal companions to marry local cuisine, known for its southern personality: fish, mushrooms and berries.
This season invites us to discover the most beautiful Argentinian spots guided by taste, flavours and feelings.
The route starts in the Andes at the moment of the harvest, a traditional and intuitive time that goes through the land, tasting grapes in search of the perfect ripeness that will end up with the right intensity and quality of fruits and tannin. During the vinification, grapes are picked manually in the early morning; this process is called “piegage manuel”, referring to the exhaustive selection of scents. Later comes aging in barrels made of French oak, where wine comes alive just the way it was imagined.
This trip through the creation of Andean wine takes place at Mendel Wines, one of the selected wineries at Las Balsas.
The path now leads us to the cellar, where sensations reach their destination. Builded mainly of stone and cypress, with the perfect humidity and temperature, this cellar was created to keep the best wines of the country, north to south.
With more than 150 different wine labels, it´s a trip through the whole country, enjoying flavours and tasting the most iconic stocks of every Argentinian soil.
The wine menu takes us to all latitudes: Patagonia is represented by Pinot Noir stock and wineries like Patritti, Finca La Papay or Humberto Canale.
The central zone of the Andes is voiced with wineries like Mendel, Viña Alicia, Rutini, Finca Decero, Catena, among others. And this zone is also expressed with fantastic Cabernets, Malbecs, Merlots, Syrahs and signature Blends.
The north is symbolized with Torrontes, Malbec and stocks combinations with great personalities.
The route is inviting, surprising and explore the sensations of a never-ending trip that is waiting to be enjoyed.
